Jerry’s Food Emporium opens its door. Founded by Saskatoon native Jerry Kristian. Jerry’s becomes Saskatoon’s family restaraunt. Serving fresh battered cod Fish and chips, fresh cut fries, burgers, breakfast, homemade ice cream and ice cream cakes.

2001

2001 A&W threatens legal action due to Mozzarella Burger. Smart & Biggar (we’re not kidding that’s the company’s name!!), lawyers from Vancouver representing A&W Canada, deliver a cease and desist to Jerry’s Food Emporium.

2002

Jerry’s begins crafting artisan gelato and sorbet. Jerry’s becomes Saskatoon’s exclusive gelato artisan. Jerry’s is the first to introduce the frozen granite slab for ice cream in Saskatoon. Trademarked Smash-ins and Arctic Sensations.

2003

2003 Arctic Sensations opens in Calgary.

2006

Advanced Artisan Gelato Making in Italy.  Practice makes perfect.  More time honing our gelato skills in the classical way with Luciano Ferrari!  Also eating and drinking Italian to better understand the culture.

2007

The iconic surfboard is brought back from Hawaii.

2009

Jerry’s 8th Street gets a Restaurant Makeover. Welcome to our new space!

2010

Gelatte Trademark. The perfect marriage of gelato and a latte – ‘Gelatte’!  only at Jerry’s.

2012

In 2012 we opened our second location, Jerry’s 51st! We also launched a dedicated gluten-free menu and employee training program in collaboration with the Canadian Celiac Association.

2017

Jerry’s hits 20 years!
